418 I'm a teapot

An April Fools joke status from RFC 2324.

What it means

Not a real HTTP semantic. Some servers use it as an easter egg or to refuse automated traffic.

What your client should do

Treat it as a deliberate refusal.

Should you retry?

No. Repeating the same request will give the same result.

Try it

The free practice API returns this status on demand, with the headers a well-behaved API would send. Call GET /api/play/status/418 from Endpoint Client and open the Explain tab.
