Your first hour

  1. Sign in with GitHub. Your progress, projects and certificates are saved to your account. No card, no trial.
  2. Send your first request. The first mission takes about ten minutes and runs against a live practice API.
  3. Build something to show. Create an API in the App Builder, then download the front end it builds and push it to a GitHub repository.

Credentials employers can check

The Certified API Integration Practitioner and the Certified API Security Practitioner are earned through server-verified practical work and a timed exam with a published blueprint. Every certificate has a public verification page and a QR code, and can be added to LinkedIn or exported as an Open Badges 3.0 credential.

Is it really free?

Yes. Lessons, labs, the API client, the App Builder and the certification exams are free for every learner.

Do I need the GitHub Student Developer Pack?

No. Any student can sign in with GitHub, Google or LinkedIn and get everything on this page.

Can my club or class use it together?

Yes. Instructors can create a classroom, share an access code and follow each student’s verified progress. Student clubs and hackathon organisers can write to us for workshops and challenges.
